City manager

Mark L. Heydlauff was appointed as Bronson's City Manager in November of 2010. The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the City, appointed by the City Council. The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the City, provides overall direction to and is responsible for the management, staffing, administration and operation of all City Departments. It is the duty of the City Manager to provide reports to the Council in regard to ongoing activities within the City as well as evaluating services and making recommendations for the improvement of operations. The City Manager also provides an annual recommendation for the City's budget.

In addition to the traditional duties of City Manager, Mark also works on projects with local businesses and business prospects to encourage economic development in the City. The City Manager also serves as the Planning/Zoning Administrator.

Mark is a member of the Bronson Rotary Club and serves on the Boards of Directors for the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance (BCEGA), the Branch Area Transit Authority (BATA), Branch County United Way, Sturgis Hospital, and is the president of Branch County Community Theatre (BCCT). Originally from Sturgis, Michigan, Mark holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo and a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana where he majored in Political Science and Economics.
