Downtown Development Authority & Brownfield Redevelopment Authority

In 2011 the City of Bronson established a Downtown Development Authority (DDA)for the City's Downtown.  A Downtown Development Authority (DDA), Public Act 197 of 1975 as amended, is designed to be a catalyst in the development of a community’s downtown district. In January of 2016, the DDA established a Downtown Development Plan & Tax Increment Financing Plan for the Downtown.  The plan outlines potential projects and costs for Downtown Improvements (see below for download of plan document).  The DDA tax increment financing mechanism allows for the capture of the incremental growth of local property taxes over a period of time to fund public infrastructure improvements in the Downtown.

In 2016 the DDA Board was also designated as the City's Brownfield Redevelopment Authority Board.  Any potential brownfield redevelopment project plan would go before the DDA/Brownfield Board for approvals.

The DDA/Brownfield boards meet on an as needed basis.  The board has regularly scheduled meetings for the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM (as needed).  If you are interested in attending a DDA/Brownfield meeting please call 517-369-7334 to confirm there will be a meeting.
