2016 Matteson Street Improvement Project

posted May 11, 2016, 9:03 AM by admin admin

During the summer of 2016, Matteson Street will see various improvements.

Beginning on June 13, 2016, we will be upgrading sections of 4-inch water main to 8-inch on Rudd (between Walker & Matteson St.), W. Corey Street (from Walker to Matteson St.) and Matteson Street (between Rudd & Grant).  This will improve water flow, reliability, and aid fire protection. As with all MDOT Local Agency Projects, all sidewalk ramps at street intersections along Matteson will also be updated to meet current ADA standards.

Once the underground work is complete, Matteson Street will be milled and resurfaced in its entirety (from the northern City limits at Mill Street to the southern City limits at/near 1st Street). This work will begin on or around July 25, 2016.

There will be no debt associated with this project.  The project work on Matteson Street is fully funded by an MDOT grant and a Federal Grant the City received.  The City will be responsible for all of the engineering for the Matteson Street work as well as all of the project costs for water main improvements.  As we have updates, they will be posted here.
